There wasn't much going on at 8:45 am in the Convention area, so I set back off down the hill to look around.

One of my reasons for supporting Heidi Stirrup was I had met her and spoken with her at some length on a couple occasions. She really did a good job doing the meet-and-greet thing at Republican events over the past couple months and this was no exception.

This got me thinking: Maybe in the interest of fairness I should give Jim Rich the same chance. But I did not even know what he looked like. Thus began my quest.

(Continued below the fold)

The Rich campaign had the area covered extremely well, I must say, while Heidi's promotional effort was pretty much contained in a single part of the lawn by the road.

I stopped one Jim-Rich-sticker purveyor after another, asking "Is Jim Rich around? I've never met him."

The answer was usually something like, "Well he's here, I'm pretty sure he's here somewhere."

"Can you tell me what he looks like?"

To which the replies included "He's in a dark suit," "He's pretty tall," and the especially intriguing "He has glasses."

Stymied in my search, but convinced Jim Rich must be one of the most quintessentially regular-looking guys who has ever walked the Earth, I got a picture of a group of his supporters, so if I never did manage to find the man I could at least establish for the record that Jim Rich runs with an attractive crowd.
