Help Save Loudoun Public Meeting
NOVA TownHall held a joint meeting with Help Save Loudoun on Tuesday, June 20 in Sterling. Despite the fact our meeting room was canceled less than two hours prior to the event because a car ran into the library's electrical transformer, we were able to find a new location close by and had over 30 local residents in attendance.

This was the kick-off public meeting for Help Save Loudoun, the next-door extension of Help Save Herndon, the grassroots citizens' group which garnered international attention for helping to overturn the town government of Herndon, Virginia in May, 2006, after Herndon's mayor and a majority of town council members appropriated taxpayer dollars to fund a day labor center for illegal migrant workers. Loudoun County abuts the western edge of Herndon.
Attendees (here, with one of my favorite people in the world, former Herndon Town Council Member Ann Null) discussed local problems such as zoning and overcrowding violations, and the negative impact on local workers caused by businesses that hire illegal aliens.

"Help Save Loudoun will assist local residents with reporting and tracking overcrowding and zoning violations, but it's also the first step in creating a new political body for influencing our elected officials in Loudoun and the state of Virginia," said member Diane Bonieski. "It's a group of citizens saying 'enough is enough.' You're welcome to come, but you have to follow the rule of law."

Speakers included outstanding political strategist Nathan Muller (below) of www.ForTheCause.us, discussing the Herndon elections and the grassroots effort. Muller said, "We know now, definitively, that candidates can win by addressing illegal immigration."

More information can be found at www.HelpSaveLoudoun.com. Help Save Loudoun meets at Cascades Library in Sterling at 7:00 pm, on the last Wednesday of each month. The next meeting is July 26, 2006.
