How Many Hospitals Would Jesus Close?

Another challenge to our liberal friends - this editorial at Free Republic:

A 2005 study appearing in the Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons found that 60 hospitals had closed in California alone between 1993 and 2003 as a direct result of illegal immigration. Under the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act of 1985, hospitals must treat the uninsured without reimbursement. Though the law was intended to guarantee that no emergency room would turn away a patient in crisis, it's led to illegals using ERs for their primary care. Those 60 hospitals had all reached a point where they were paid for less than half of the services they performed. The study also found 24 hospitals on the brink of bankruptcy.

Whose wages would Jesus decimate? In 1980, according to the Department of Labor, a meat packer could expect to make $19 an hour. Today the going wage is less than $10. Across the board, American wages are lowered by as much as $200 billion dollars by illegal aliens. The Left speaks a lot about the squeezed middle class, but these champions of the working man will line up to vote for amnesty in Congress in the new year.

How many false Social Security numbers would Jesus use? Arellano was going to be deported because she convicted of that exact crime. The immigration bill the Congress narrowly rejected this year even had provisions for paying out Social Security benefits to those who've stolen other people's numbers. Of course that only applies if they came over the border illegally; legal immigrants and native born citizens get to go to jail when they steal someone's identity.

Using a fake SSN is, I think, a felony.

I suppose, according to the logic of some of our commenters, that Americans who have had their identities stolen should be grateful for the opportunity to help the disadvantaged from other countries. Therefore, I issue this challenge: Pro-illegal liberals, please forward your social security numbers, names and places of birth, because we have illegal aliens in Northern Virginia who can really use that information, Also, if you are not local, send us your addresses or, at least, zip codes, so we can circulate the availability of your neighborhood as a sanctuary city. The more specific, the better.

If you are not willing to do these things, please keep your opinions about our efforts to bring Loudoun County under the rule of law to yourselves.

I know some Loudoun County construction workers that don't use their's hardly at all the last few years.

I'm sure they would jump at the chance to "Do Unto Others As They Have Done To You."

As soon as I have all of the information gathered, I'll email it to you.

I'm off to Office Depot, they have a nice lot, the right customers and Ruby Tuesday restrooms are a few steps away.

Fill me in, H.E. I think many of our readers have no idea what you are dealing with.

Everytime a day laborer is hired, or a construction company is contracted that employees illegal aliens, that cheap labor you hire is driving the person who used to be your neighbor in the $700,000 home below poverty level.

If you assume that these things do not happen in Loudoun County, you are wrong. The same thing is happening in every industry no matter what it is.

The construction workers who spent 15, 20, 25 years mastering their trade to perfection were the same people that you use to hire when you wanted nothing but the best. Quality and the American Tradesmen have been sacrificed for cheap labor and "I guess that I can live with that".

You don't see the men who no longer own a home, no longer have a decent car, havn't bought new clothes in years, rent and utilities behind, no longer has health insurance, doesn't have money for Christmas gifts for the kids, buys the $1.00 hotdogs, and on and on.

While people no longer want to pay a living wage (middle class)for crafts that took many years to master they do not mind their tax dollars being spent in the many many billions to support the illegals.

So whether you realize it or not that cheap labor is costing you more than that project by the Citizen would have.

The Citizen worker has no where else to go. What are they going to sneak over the border to mexico. No, they just go out on the streets.

It is the illegals that are taking advantage of you, not the Citizens.

Joe, if you're argument is that illegal immigrants are a major source of identity theft you're going to have to cite more than one person's editorial stating how one person "was going to be deported because she convicted of that exact crime." Otherwise you're misrepresenting or making broad generalizations or whatever that's called.

kevin said:

Oh, and your entire discusssion after the article has nothing to do with the title of the post.

Of course nobody in their right mind would give that information to anyone, illegal immigrant or not, except for official purposes. And if you're officially soliciting that information for the purpose you describe than you should be charged with a felony. ;)

The strangest SSAN grabbing scam I ever encountered was at Pentagon City Mall.

Some guy standing by the METRO entrence was asking for help to get into a shelter. I was there for the 2600 meeting, so was curious about the social engineering hack he was pulling, so I played along for a moment.

He said he needed help getting to a shelter and I told him I did not know where one was, but there must be one around here someplace.

He knew where it was but said they only take locals and he needed a social security number to get in.

I responded "sorry, I wasn't born in this county either, mine won't do you any good if that is the deal."

He got a little pissed off and laughed too.

Was one of the better street bum scams I had heard.

I love how ass backwards your thought processes are. The reason hospitals are closing is because uninsured Americans are forced to use emergency rooms for routine treatment and then cannot afford to pay because we are the only industrialized nation in the world that does not have national health insurance. Illegal immigrants of course would not be using fake social security numbers if they were granted amnesty. The title of your piece is especially hilarious in light of the complete hypocrisy of "Christians," who apparently haven't gotten around to the parts of the Bible where Jesus preached about loving your neighbor, helping those in poverty, etc. The resignation of the newly designated head of the Christian Coalition who was told that anti-poverty efforts would not "play to their base" is a pretty telling example of how un-Christian the "Christian" Right has become.

Jack said:

That would explain why the right-wingers give more to charity than left-wingers:

You're all so generous with other people's money, but not your own. (This is where Zimzo rants about how much he gives to charity. So I'll head him off: Show us your tax returns from last year.)

And here's another great example of "Chritian" hypocrisy:

"As Governor Mitt Romney explores a presidential bid, he has grown outspoken in his criticism of illegal immigration. But, for a decade, the governor has used a landscaping company that relies heavily on workers like these, illegal Guatemalan immigrants, to maintain the grounds surrounding his pink Colonial house on Marsh Street in Belmont."

Jack said:

Of course, there is no mention in this article about OTHER companies Romney could have used. It is a bit disingenuous to criticize someone for using a company that hires illegal immigrants (not hiring them personally), when there may be no company to do the work that does not. After all, hiring illegals is cheaper, else it would not be worth the risk. Therefore, those companies hiring illegals undercut the opposition, and put them out of business. You have also criticized the idea of companny's advertizing that their workers are legal, so that we can patronize those businesses.

BTW, if you buy Tyson's chicken, or buy strawberries from California, you are just as guilty as Romney.

Over 4 years ago it was already a serious problem.

Testifying before Congress yesterday, "James B. Lockhart III, deputy Social Security commissioner, said approximately 10 million Social Security numbers a year do not match up with their proper names. Though some mistakes might be caused by clerical errors, 'many millions' are fraudulent." Rep. Rep. E. Clay Shaw Jr (R-FL) observed that, "As each day passes, we learn more about the degree to which terrorists use stolen identities and false Social Security numbers to establish cover employment, driver's licenses and credit cards -- all enabling them to live within our borders and plan their crimes against Americans."

August 06, 2002

The front page of today's Washington Post explains how over 800,000 businesses covering seven million employees have received no-match letters from the Social Security Administration and have been forced to act on them. The SSA’s recent crack down on invalid or no-match social security numbers is having a huge impact on illegal immigrant workers across the country according to Cecilia Munoz of the National Council of La Raza. “We’re hearing about it from all over the country,” she says. While some see this as an injustice to the workers, others have a different point of view. “If someone's not authorized to work in the U.S., they're not authorized. You can't sugarcoat that," said Bill Strassberger, a spokesman for the Immigration and Naturalization Service. And while the SSA has insisted that its crackdown is not aimed at immigrants, the government could not ignore the fact that despite efforts to control entry to the U.S., illegal aliens were using fake SSNs to gain a foothold in the U.S. As Dave Ray of FAIR put it, “Either we want to stop it (illegal immigration) or we don't want to stop it."

Then over 3 years ago - Government backoff.

March 18, 2003

The Social Security Administration says it is scaling back a program that sends out ‘no-match’ letters to businesses. The letters state that one or more employees have provided a Social Security Number that does not match any record, or matches the wrong name. The program successfully led to the firing of thousands of illegal alien workers over the year, but was scaled back because it did not “result in a large number of corrected Social Security accounts” - presumably meaning most of the letters dealt with people who were in the U.S. illegally, and had no correct number to give.

crime continues to increase

September 13, 2004

"Since January, the Motor Vehicles Department has sent out roughly 500,000 letters threatening to suspend the licenses of drivers whose Social Security numbers do not match federal records. Joe Picchi, a spokesman for the department, said that the review is continuing, and he expects between 250,000 and 300,000 drivers to lose their licenses. So far more than 600 licenses have been suspended," the New York Times writes. "While a driver's license has historically been a document indicating that an individual is qualified to operate a motor vehicle, the driver's license has become the 'defacto' national identification card, providing the ability to open bank accounts and obtain credit, rent apartments and gain access to transportation services," the state's motor vehicle commissioner said.

Then intense increased activity

June 21, 2005

the House immigration subcommittee held a hearing on the lack of worksite enforcement and employer sanctions. Witnesses included Richard Stanna, director of homeland security and justice issue for the GAO; Terrence Jeffery editor of Human Events; Carl Hampe partner with Baker and McKenzie LLP; and Jennifer Gordon Associate Professor of Law at Fordham University Law School.

Terrence Jeffrey of Human Events made the important point that the "wall of separation" between the Social Security Administration and the DHS in sharing information on which specific employers are hiring the most illegal aliens is analogous to the "wall of separation" in our intelligence agencies that led to the tragic failure to detect the 9/11 plot and stop it. Jeffrey pointed out that a recent SSA report concluded there are over 10 million Social Security numbers being used by individuals who have not been issued Social Security numbers.

Now illegals claiming discrimination

October 02, 2006

Illegal Immigrant Groups Call for Boycott of Dunkin Donuts, Applebee's

"A local group fighting for [illegal] immigrant rights is calling for a boycott of two nationally known companies. Dunkin Donuts and Applebee's are accused of discriminating against immigrant workers whose names don't match their social security numbers," WLS-TV Chicago reports. " roups accuse several companies of the practice using 'no match' letters to [fire] immigrant workers who don't have valid social security numbers. They want the public to boycott businesses, including Applebee's and Dunkin Donuts. Neither company could be reached for comment. Some immigration rights groups at Federal Plaza say it is no mistake there has been an increase in effort to curtail immigration reform. They have planned a day of fasting in protest of the 'no match' letters, raids, and deportations."

Sometimes the numbers are obtained just by making one up and it just happens to be a valid one.

Others are stolen, found on the internet and networked nationwide.

You might want to take this issue up with Mr. Grigsby.

BTW, I think I might have given of my money to some charitable cause last year, I can't remember. At any rate, if I did it wasn't much, and I certainly wouldn't have used it as a tax write off (WAY below the standard deduction). But giving of your time to a cause where you can see where the money is going and being used for, see direct results, etc. Yeah, I did that. I hope I don't have to show you any pieces of paper showing how many hours I put in. I guess there are many ways to consider giving to charity.

also, Jack, right-wingers HAVE more money. You probably think this is because they're smarter and generally better human beings. A large majority of people do not realize their identity has been stolen until they receive a tax bill for thousands including interest, etc.

These tax bills for unpaid taxes can sometimes be for 20, 40, 60 or more illegals using the same number nationwide.

It it the taxpayers responsibility to prove that they were not working at mcdonalds, etc. in NC, DC, PA, CA, OH, etc. at the same time.

81 People Using One Social Security Number

One woman's Social Security identification number has been used by at least 81 people in 17 states. Though impossible to verify in every case, information gleaned from criminal investigations, tax documents and other sources suggest most of the users were probably illegal immigrants trying to get work.
